“The Big Five” focused on cancer through the lens of pathology. These five large-scale oil paintings were the center of the exhbition and portrayed, sized larger than life, the world’s most frequently diagnosed carcinomas — stomach, breast, colorectal, lung, and prostate cancer —translating their microscopic architecture into a visual language that makes the unseen tangible.

The paintings of this exhibition did not seek beauty in disease; instead, I wanted to offer a shift in perspective, inviting both medical professionals and those who encounter cancer only in moments of crisis to see differently. The series invites reflection on how we perceive cancer, how pathology balances distance and empathy, and how knowledge, emotion, and imagery intertwine at their shared borders.
